Latest O’Neill Brothers’ CD Features Movie Themes Spanning Eight Decades

NEW PRAGUE, MN (February 27, 2002) — Pass the popcorn, roll the film. Tim and Ryan O’Neill, the O’Neill Brothers, have released their 13th album, a collection of popular movie themes called Through the Years.

“We’ve been wanting to record an album of movie themes for years,” says older brother Tim O’Neill. “There’s a treasure trove of material out there to choose from, and we spent hours and hours listening to songs we hoped to include, as well as which ones worked well as mostly piano compositions. We finally decided to narrow it down to a few themes from each decade, from the 1930s through today.”

Through the Years features a the O’Neill Brothers’ unique take on a dozen familiar movie themes and a pair of original compositions written especially for the album, including:

Somewhere Over the Rainbow, from The Wizard of Oz (1939)
As Time Goes By, from Casablanca (1942); also featured in Sleepless in Seattle (1993)
Unchained Melody, from Unchained (1955); also featured in Ghost (1990)
Can’t Help Falling in Love, from Blue Hawaii (1961)
Where Do I Begin, from Love Story (1970)
Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini, from Somewhere in Time (1980)
The Thorn Birds, from The Thorn Birds (1983)
Schindler’s List (Main Theme), from Schindler’s List (1993)
Forrest Gump (Main Theme), from Forrest Gump (1994)
I Will Remember You, from The Brothers McMullen (1995)
The Patriot (Main Theme), from The Patriot (2000)

“Movie themes are absolutely packed with drama,” says Ryan O’Neill. “By their very nature they’re designed to convey the tone and theme of the film they’re in — in a short, three– to five-minute package. They’re really beloved tunes because they evoke memories of people’s favorite films.”

The O’Neill Brothers have turned a passion for music into a thriving business, selling more than 600,000 CDs nationwide, all without benefit of association with a major record label.
